Luxury Beauty Gift Ideas

Today I'm sharing three luxury beauty items that I feel would be perfect for any beauty lover if you really want to treat them.

You generally can't go wrong with a bottle of perfume- unless you end up buying a scent someone detests! It's always worth knowing a perfume they already wear so you can ask a sales advisor if they recommend any other scents.

Last year Boots launched their Emporium, a service where you can get items personalised/engraved and wrapped. You can build beauty gift boxes, however I really love the fact you can get beauty items engraved. For Christmas last year my Mum got me a bottle of perfume from Estée Lauder personalised and now, as I'm coming to the end of the bottle I don't think I'll be able to get rid of it.

Chanel Lipstick

If we are being completely honest, nothing screams more luxury than a Chanel lipstick. The packaging is so chic and feminine, combined with the stunning pigmentation and long-lasting formula, any lipstick lover (like myself 🙃) would be very happy unwrapping this on Christmas Day!

MAC x 9 Eyeshadow Palette

It wasn't until I was sorting through my collection the other day that I realised how perfect this mini palette would be as a gift. MAC have several of these 'x9' palettes, with some styles/colours limited edition and others part of the full collection, these palettes are great for eyeshadow enthusiasts who don't necessarily want to go to the hassle of building their own MAC palette...(naturally, I've completed one palette and nearly a second because I really am that extra🙃)

I hope these products have given you a few ideas!

Will you be asking for any of these products this year?

We All Need Time for Ourselves // #blankthoughts

Sometimes we all need time to ourselves.

Recently I've found myself in desperate need of more 'me time'. I found myself comfortably sitting in my room and choosing to focus on other things to 'sort my head out', rather than just try to carry on as normal and socialising in the kitchen with my flatmates.

It's difficult to explain- but essentially I allowed my anxieties and past 'issues' to take control of me, even though I had no fundamental reason to let them. I felt unbelievably excluded from the people I live with (for no reason whatsoever) and it meant that whenever I walked in a room I felt heightened tension that simply didn't exist.

I started to question whether I fit in within our little dynamic anymore, whether the seven incredible flatmates I lived with truly understood me, and accepted me for the honest version of me I was living as, or whether I needed to change in order feel comfortable.

I took time for myself to slowly digest how I was feeling as well as try to pinpoint why I was feeling this way, and now it has been just over a month and frankly I don't think I'm any closer to knowing what really triggered it, however, I know I am happier. I do know that I'm happier because I'm caring less, I'm not afraid of saying I need some time for myself to get my head around something.

In the past month I've found myself forming relationships/strengthening friendships with people through talking about anxiety and other personal problems. Some of these people I was/am fairly close with and it was a topic that was always glossed over rather than being thoroughly discussed, others are people I have never spoken too before, but don't see going anywhere anytime soon.

Is it a strange thing to bond over? Not at all. Mental Health is normal.

'We need to openly talk about our feelings to truly understand how we feel.'

Anxiety & Mental Health issues really shouldn't be brushed past, and I can't stress enough how important it is to talk to someone about how you feel. Bottling up you're emotions will only hurt you more in the long run- trust me I've been there MANY times. Be selfish. Say how you feel. Just understand that sometimes how you're feeling might not make sense to people completely, but they will always have you're best interests at heart.

We all need time for ourselves, and this past month has made me feel the strongest, happiest and clearest I have felt in a while...

Meilla, Yvie, Jonah, Sophie, Ed, Esther & Lyle- I hope you liked the guys rock

Currently Reading - 'Some Kind of Wonderful' by Giovanna Fletcher

Hello all!

Today I wanted share with you all the book I am currently reading, and that is 'Some Kind of Wonderful' by Giovanna Fletcher. I adore Gi's books and have done since she first released Billy & Me back in 2013.

Generally, I'm the kind of girl that when I really get stuck into a book, I can read it within a few hours, and Gi's books are generally no exception to that rule. I started reading this book before I went to bed last Monday, with the intention of getting it finished by the end of last week so today's post could have been a review...

However, last Tuesday I had a nasty bump to the head in uni (it wasn't my fault or me being clumsy for once!) which meant I have spent the past week being stuck in bed trying to sleep off the mother of all headaches (concussion is disgusting and I feel for anyone who ends up suffering long term from it!) and also meant I had to slow down my reading.

I had managed to get about 70/80 pages in within the first hour or so of reading, and I really am hooked. *spoiler time* (kind of) I'm at the part where Lizzy has just turned up on the doorstep of her friend Connie's following the split- and I'm desperate to find out what happens next! It has taken so much for me not to pick up my book and start reading whilst I've been stuck in bed, as I knew it really wouldn't make me any better!

This week my week is full of assessments, which naturally means I am stressing, so I am going to make it my mission from this evening to read at least one chapter each evening to calm me down before I go to sleep. I also go home a week today, and whilst I planned on doing plenty of writing for something exciting (well I think it is exciting!) part of me thinks it'll be my mission to finish the book on the three and a half hour journey home.

Have you read 'Some Kind of Wonderful'?

English Beauty

It's time for another lipstick post!

Charlotte Tilbury recently launched three limited edition lipsticks based on three countries, Shanghai, America and England.

At first, I wasn't particularly 'worried' about the lipsticks from this collection, as for me 'American Sweetheart' looked very similar to 'Pillowtalk', a lipstick I already own from Charlotte Tilbury and religiously wear, and 'Shanghai Nights' is beautiful, but again I own so many similar shades that I couldn't justify it (currently).

'English Beauty' is the perfect in-between of Charlotte's lipsticks 'Valentine' (I don't own but again, a girl can dream) and 'Pillowtalk'. It is a gorgeous rose-pink nude shade that I am certain would suit all skin tones.

I've spoken countlessly about ow 2017 has been the year I became obsessed with nude lipsticks and this one is literally another to add to the collection.

I love the formula of Charlotte's matte lipsticks and find that they always last on my lips for ages, and combined with 'Pillowtalk' lipliner (seriously, every nude lip obsessive like myself NEEDS this shade!), it really is a winning combination!

Chocolate Cream Cocktail

Hey everyone!

In todays blogpost I thought I'd share with you a really easy 'Chocolate Cream' cocktail recipe that I think will be enjoyed by many over this festive month.

I use Irish Cream in the recipe, although note that Irish Cream flavoured syrups do exist, so you could make a non-alcoholic version of the drink that will be enjoyed just as much!

1 ounce Baileys/Irish Cream

A dash of peppermint syrup/flavouring

3 Oreo cookies

1 ounce single cream

2 scoops chocolate ice cream

12 scoop ice, crushed

Simply combine all of the ingriedients into a blender and blend until the consistency is smooth. Then pour the mixture into a glass of your choice, with additional oreos as garnish for decoration (and a little snack!)

Like I said, you don't have to use alcohol if you wanted to make a mocktail rather than a cocktail, however there isn't a substantial amount of alcohol anyway- so if you wanna drink your heart out, be my guest!

Festive Music Favourites

There's nothing I love more than listening to Christmas music during the festive season.  I love it. I am that person that generally won't skip a song if it comes on, whatever the time of year.

Originally, this post was going be 'my top three festive songs', that quickly became five, and then twenty. I wanted to explain why each song was meaningful/personal to me, however I came to realise that every song is sentimental because regardless of what may be happening surrounding Christmas in a personal situation, music is always the escape that will keep you going if you need it.

Here are ten of my favourite festive songs:

- 'A Spaceman Went Travelling' by Chris de Burgh (ultimate favourite)

- 'Baby Please Come Home', specifically Michael Buble's version!

- 'In Dulci Jubilo' by Mike Oldfield

- 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas', any rendition will always make me teary!

- 'I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday' by Wizzard!

- 'One More Sleep' by Leona Lewis

- 'Last Christmas' by Wham!

- 'Step Into Christmas' by Elton John

- 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' by Mariah Carey

- 'Merry Xmas Everybody' by Slade

What are your favourite festive songs?

Wearing Pink in Winter

I'm a self confessed girly girl, and sometimes people (me) can find wearing colours associated with Spring/Summer in the colder months difficult.

A few weeks ago, my friend Phoebe and I went for a walk around Brentford, and I felt the most 'stereotypically girly' I had felt in a while, wearing simply my blue floral embroidered jeans, dusty pink boots and baby pink oversized winter coat.

Black always seems like/is an obvious choice of colour to wear because it's easy, or because it matches everything. I live in blacks as part of my degree, so now any chance I get to wear colour, I'm going to embrace it.

Stay Sassy with Healthy Chef Steph ♡

On Sunday I attended Steph Elswood's (aka Healthy Chef Steph) fourth 'Stay Sassy' event of the year- and had the best day ever!

Those of you who have read this blog before will know I first discovered Steph in early 2016 and quickly became obsessed with her bundles of positive energy and endless girl power. (I wrote about her in a post in June last year- you can it read here!)

I had wanted to attend one of the Stay Sassy events since she had first announced them earlier in the year, however I was always unable to make it. So when Steph announced this event that was on my day off, I knew I had to go.

We started off the class with a warm up before strutting through the studio in our heels, imagining how we would want to be if we were walking past an ex we definitely didnt want to see on a night out- it worked a treat I must add!

Next up was the part of the event I was looking forward to the most- the dancing! Those of you may or may not know I studied a HNC in Dance last year, and whilst commercial/heels is very much out of my comfort zone (unless I've had several vodka's- then I'm any kind of dancer!) I love the free feeling dancing gives me as well as it being a really great confidence booster and a destress mechanism.

Boy have I missed dancing. I didn't realise how much I physically missed it until I was doing it. Sure, I used to feel really out of place when I was at college because I had little knowledge/skill/experience in this style, but I still loved it. Learning the routine on Sunday was exactly what I needed to remind me that I need to get dancing again, sooner rather than later!

After the amazing class nutritionist Rhiannon Lambert ( @rhitrition) and Laura Phelan ( @phelanwelll) gave us a chat regarding mindful eating, staying positive and feeling overwhelmed in the festive period. It was really interesting to hear and learn how our digestive system also play apart of our mental health, and I'm definitely going to be looking at Christmas in a different perspective this year.

After the talk we were presented with prosecco and some amazing snacks from Platter London (@platterlondon) before we all got to chat and say our goodbyes. It was so lovely to finally meet Steph since it feels like I've known her forever, and she is just as humble, beautiful and positive in real life as she is on her Instagram, which is so lovely to see. I also got to have a chat with Rhiannon regarding how anxiety can be linked with bloating which was also really interesting!

Once again thank you to Steph for organising such an interesting, fun and sassy afternoon, I really, really enjoyed it and will do everything in my power to attend the next one!

Five Festive MAC Reds

I’ve been a MAC Lipstick obsessive since I first started wearing makeup years ago. I know I own way too many lipsticks for one person to need but frankly I can’t see myself not buying anymore any time soon.

Anyway I’ve rummaged through my collection and picked out five of my favourite reds (all different shades/tones I promise!) that I think will suit everyone at this time of year.

Chili is a beautiful burnt pepper red shade. I purchased this lipstick to wear on my birthday this year and have seen myself reaching for it countless times since. I find the tone really compliments my porcelain skin tone beautifully, as well as the comfortable MAC Matte formula that I love means it won’t budge easily!

Russian Red

Russian Red is a classic blue-toned Hollywood red shade. I personally love wearing this shade in the run up to Christmas, especially if I need to make my makeup ‘pop’ and look complete. Ruby Woo is also a really similar shade, however I prefer the Matte that Russian Red has in comparison to Ruby Woo’s Retro Matte formula.

Lady Danger

If I had a pound for every time I’ve spoken about this lipstick either in person or on my blog I’d be a lot richer than I am now! Lady Danger is my ultimate red, The slightly orange tones make it versatile all year round and I know that if I need a red, this is my go too.

Relentlessly Red

Relentlessly Red is one of MACs Retro Matte lipsticks, and whilst I mentioned I’m not a fan of the Retro Matte formula, I do think it is my Ruby Woo lipstick rather than the formula specifically, as I don’t tend to have an issue when I wear this shade. A vibrant coral pink,

Technically, Diva is a wine burgundy shade, but I do believe it is a festive shade that can be worn by everyone. Similarly to Chili, I find this shade really suits my porcelain skin tone, and really makes my blue eyes pop. I also find that this shade is probably one of the most versatile colours I own, and can be worn at anytime in the year.

Like I said, I own far too many lipsticks and choosing five specific reds to talk about wasn't easy! Would you be interested in a more in depth lipstick collection?

Dream Christmas Party Dress

Trawling the internet for clothes I simply do not need has been something I have done for as long as I remember. I am a shopaholic, and I just can’t help it- especially when it comes to party dresses.

After much deliberation I’ve managed to whittle down all my choices to an outfit I’ll be wearing this Christmas day (hopefully!)

I’m biased, but this green sequin dress from Boohoo on ASOS is probably the dress I’ll be going for this Christmas. If you follow here/know me personally you’ll know that green is one of my favourite colours, and when better to wear a dress covered in sequins than Christmas?
I order this dress during Black Friday in a size 10 and it fits me fine, however I’m tempted to exchange it for a size 12 just to see if it fits a little nicer, especially as the ‘original’ cut of the dress is ‘petite’, and I’m definitely not!

You can buy the dress from ASOS here.

Liquid Lip Favourites

Ever since the liquid lipstick trend reinvented itself in 2014 beauty lovers like myself have been obsessed. I’m a self confessed lipstick fangirl at the best of times, and whilst I personally prefer your traditional matte lipstick, there are a few liquid lipsticks in my collection that I can’t help but not share. (They may also make really good gifts as well!)

MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipstick in Back in Vogue & Red Jade

Out of the several colours I own, these are by far my two most popular shades that I find myself reaching towards. 'Back in Vogue' is a neutral-brown tone nude that would match almost every skin tone, and 'Red Jade' is the perfect of coral red for those who like to be a bit more daring with a bright lip. I find the formula of these lipsticks lasts really well and isn’t overly drying in comparison to other brands that I have tried. I would also recommend using a lipliner and lip balm before application, to be sure you are prepping your lips as best as you can in order for the lipstick to last to its potential.

Charlotte Tilbury Liquid Lipsticks in Charlotte Darling, Screen Siren and Walk of Fame

When Charlotte Tilbury announced she was launching liquid lipsticks I instantly found myself jumping on the hype. I purchased 'Charlotte Darling' (which I would describe as a subtle peachy-nude on my skin tone) and 'Screen Siren', which is the perfect raspberry red. At first I found the liquid lipsticks to be patchy, and whilst I didn’t want to be disappointed, I couldn’t help but think I had spent my money on products that weren’t working to their potential for me. After numerous attempts, I discovered a little lip liner and lip balm combined with two light applications of product makes these lipsticks last for an incredibly long time. I recently purchased ‘Walk of Fame’, which is a online exclusive bright orangey-red shade, (and generally this type of colour is my ‘go-to’ red) and I am pretty obsessed with it- more on it soon I am sure!

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks

I own three of Kat Von D’s liquid lipsticks. ‘Nosferatu', which for me is the perfect autumn wine shade, ’Beloved’ is a pretty watermelon pink and 'Ophelia’ is my perfect ‘my lips but better’ nude lip shade. I find the formula of these liquid lipsticks can be drying at first, however the longevity they have completely outweighs this and after a few wears you naturally become used to this; and it’s nothing a little lip balm before application can’t fix! There are so many other colours in Kat’s collection I’d love to try I just don’t know where to begin- so any suggestions are welcome!

Overall I am really impressed with all of the formulas of these liquid lipsticks, and I like I mentioned, they would be a lovely gift for beauty lovers!

What Perfume I'm Wearing This December

Perfume has always been one of my favourite beauty products, so I thought I would share with you all three of my favourite scents I’ll be wearing throughout December.

Jo Malone Blue Agava & Cacao

Unfortunately this scent is now discontinued, however I don’t think Jo Malone has ever made a bad scent. I personally fell in love with this scent because I had never smelt anything remotely similar. Blue Agava & Cacao is a sweet but equally masculine fragrance perfect for the cold crisp winter months. You can read more about when I purchased the scent here.

Viktor & Rolf Bon Bon

Two years ago I received a bottle on Bon Bon for Christmas and it slowly became one of my signature scents. I love how ‘sickeningly’ sweet this perfume is, with the sweet top notes made up of Orange and Mandarin (citrus is my favourite!) combined with base notes of  Caramel and Sandalwood- it's a scent that can be worn all year long. You can read more here.

Coco Chanel

For me, this is a classic, signature scent that I happily wear all year round. I worse this throughout Christmas and New Year last year and on multiple occasions this year. Coco Chanel is described as an ‘spicy, oriental’ fragrance made up of notes including Mandarin Orange, Mimosa,  Sandalwood and Bulgarian Rose. I would argue that this this is perfect for all ages and a classic that everyone should smell, even if they don’t own.

So they’re my perfumes I’m switching between this December! What scents are you wearing?

December Goals

Hi Everyone!

Similarly to last year I plan on blogging everyday throughout December, and I can’t wait to share the content I have planned/written/created with you all. There are a few ‘classic Beki’ posts, as well as some posts I’ve never felt confident in creating before and maybe a couple of cheeky songs along the way.

As it’s the 1st of December, I’ve decided to share some of goals/things I wish to achieve in December with you, as a little way to slowly start feeling the festive spirit.

 Blog Everyday;

I’ve already mentioned it in this post, but theres nothing more satisfying than being able to look back at the end of the month and see the portfolio of posts I’ve created. I don’t/haven’t done it very often, so if/when I do it’s always rewarding.

Not Stress & Complete Uni Assessments;

Because I am a completely mad human I’ve decided to daily blog throughout the month of our formative assessments at university. I did this whilst studying my HNC in dance where I just about knew what I was doing last year and  managed it, so this year should (said loosely) be just as manageable!

Enjoy time with Family & Friends;

In the middle of the month I’ll be back home in Plymouth for Christmas and I can’t wait to see my nearest and dearest! I adore living in London, having my independence and my ‘London’ friends around me, but nothing beats being at home. I’ll be working over the Christmas holidays as well, so I want to make sure I make the most of seeing everyone I need to see, especially as I don’t get a formal Easter break next year and probably won’t be home until June!

Buy Christmas Presents!

I am the Queen of last minute Christmas Present Shopping. Every year I say I won’t leave it last minute, but of course, I always do. Hopefully this year I can get it all done by the 20th of December! (Yes I am that person that has bought presents on Christmas Eve- i’m sorry!!)

When I’m back in Plymouth I need to remotely attempt to sort my sleeping pattern out. I haven’t had one since being at university and for the girl who always used to be in bed at 9.30 during her A Levels, it’s now starting to hit me!

So they’re my goals for December! I hope you enjoy the content I create, be sure to check back everyday at 8am for a new post to be scheduled!

See you tomorrow!
