The Phantom of The Opera and I

Ever since I saw 'The Phantom of The Opera' live in London when I was 13 years old, I have been desperate to play Christine since.

During October my Mum and I spent a few days in London for a much needed getaway, and of course, I desperately wanted to see a show, specifically Phantom.

Its funny, when I first saw Phantom, it was the first show I had seen on the West End since was 4, and it literally opened my eyes to musical theatre. I had listened to numerous soundtracks and watched several films, but had never seen the magic live. I just remember watching the show and going to a guide camp a week later and singing All I Ask of You for the entirety of the week.

Since 2013, any show I have watched I've watched with a little eye, its wrong to say I don't get the magic any more, but I feel as if I am watching a show to prepare myself going into it- does that make sense? I look for the little details of how an actor is portraying a character, I'll count the costume changes and entrances and shamefully look for mistakes (but thats only if I know a score so well- and it hasn't happened yet!!)

There hasn't been a day go bye since both the 2010 and 2016 shows where I haven't thought about playing Christine. It was that character that made me work towards becoming a top soprano, forced me to take up dance and simply made me set my heart on something so much that I don't want to imagine it not happening.

And that is why Phantom will always have a special place in me heart...

(who knows, maybe one day there will be a 'I'M PLAYING CHRISTINE !!!' post)
