My Week In Pictures..

Out of nowhere I realised that I had started using Instagram lots more this week. So I thought I would re-cap/post on the pictures I posted.

MONDAY 26th JANUARY

I finally got my hands on Velvet Teddy from MAC! It was a good day indeed!

TUESDAY 27th JANUARY

I then remembered that my two new Claireabella's I ordered earlier in the year had arrived! Blog post on these soon :)

WEDNESDAY 28th JANUARY

As a self-confessed Alice in Wonderland obsessive, when my Mum showed me the limited edition version of the stamps, I was a very happy girl!

THURSDAY 29th JANUARY

Today I had my dream university audition, so it was up bright and early to catch two trains and get there on time!

And now it's the train journey home, little did I know that Guildford had a Muji, as I then fell in love (again) with the storage and started planning IF I got it how I would sort my make-up...yes I am that sad.

Hope you enjoyed!

Silly Superstitions

*Side Note:

Blogger didn't seem to post any of my scheduled posts this week, so I am posting each one daily until we are caught up! Sorry for confusion, I only just realised!

Silly Superstitions
We all have the little things in our daily routine which we need to do in order to feel normal. Take cigarettes, they have factors that can make a person addicted to them, leading them to thinking they can't do anything else until they have had a cigarette.
For me, the cigarette is gemstones- crazy huh?
My obsession with gem stones started when I was a little girl, purchasing what I thought was just a purple stone with my parents at the Aquarium when I was three. It turned out to be Amethyst and from the age of 7 I didn't let it leave my side. Obsessed was an understatement. I took it around with me in my pocket when I would always feel on edge/nervous or if something really exciting was going to happen. As I got older I stopped carrying it around with me as I didn't think I needed it as much, yet I would still do things such as sleep with the stone under my pillow, or make a wish holding it in the morning of an exam.
I came to realise around 5 months ago my piece of amethyst disappeared, and I don't have a clue where it would be. Its really baffled me as today (29th January) I have an audition for my dream university, and I was going to carry the amethyst with me, or even wish on it before I leave, but as I can't do that, now what do I do?
I can see how people would think that this completely strange, but putting it into context, switch out the amethyst for something you consistently go to- is this your silly superstition?

MAC Update: Velvet Teddy!

Hello everyone!
Todays post is only a short one, just too excitedly say that I have the Velvet Teddy lipstick, and I love it!
Its an amazing dark nude that gives a neutral make-up look an edge more so than a pinky-nude similar to Patisserie would give!
If you haven't already guessed, this post is all positive, and the lipstick teamed with 'Staunchly Stylish' is a win for me personally!
And lets face it, any excuse for a new lipstick is a good one!

January Favourites

*Side Note:

Blogger didn't seem to post any of my scheduled posts this week, so I am posting each one daily until we are caught up! Sorry for confusion, I only just realised!

January Favourites
Its time too wrap up warm and write about the products I have been loving this month, why? Because its favourites time!
Many products I have been loving this month are all items I accumulated throughout December, and haven't stopped using since.
First up we have the Alexa Chung collection for Nails Inc. So what I already typed above is incorrect as I got this at the beginning of January, but the nails products are incredible. I had had my eye on the Stars and Hearts top coats for months, and when the collection was in the sale shortly after Christmas, it seemed like a no brainer.               The Illamasqua Skinbase foundation was a product I initially tried back in the summer, yet only purchased full size in December, and yay for good skin days! I swear by my MAC Studio Fix Fluid, yet this is a nice alternative- however I would say be aware of any touching up you need to do throughout the day, I went very shiny which is unusual for me! Youth Dew is a perfume from Estée Lauder that I have literally grown up loving. Both my Mum and my Nan are huge fans, and this year Santa Claus bought me a bottle which I am very grateful for (I must of been a good girl!) Its very mature and strong, and I would only say smell it if you are above 15 and like 'wood' based perfumes, I only properly liked the perfume when I was 15, hence the age idea! I got loads of MAC make-up bits for Christmas, and I have been loving all of them collectively, particularly Mystery, my new go to brow shadow. My favourite smells in life are citrus, baby powder and sandal wood, so it only made sense to receive numerous bath products of similar smells for Christmas, two of which that stood out was the Body Shop Glazed Green Apple Bath Jelly (it smells of a bitten apple and is insane!) and the Soap and Glory Orangeasm Shower Gel. This gel is lovely to use in the morning to wake yourself up and get going! Last but not least is my wonderful notebook which I am using as my 'life bible', blog posts, school notes, diary and other life things all go into this notebook, and I have an inkling that this will keep me going through 2016 as well as 2015!
So that's a long paragraph! Hope you enjoyed it!
What were you favourites this month?

New Lip Liner Haul

*Side Note:

Blogger didn't seem to post any of my scheduled posts this week, so I am posting each one daily until we are caught up! Sorry for confusion, I only just realised!

So last year, I wrote a blogpost (which you can read here) all about a new love for lip liners and the 'collection starting' shades to have. Well last week I went into MAC with some money to spare and ended up purchasing two liners. I will add that these weren't impulse buys, but actually products I have had my eye on for a while.
The two lip liners I originally had my eye on were 'Whirl' and 'Beet', two colours in lip liners I didn't own, and feel would make my collection perfect.
'Beet' is a rich, deep burgundy red colour- the best way I could describe it being Rimmel Kate Moss 107 Lipstick in pencil form. I have added more burgundy colour lip products to my collection recently, so this colour seemed like the next logical colour to buy.
'Whirl'  was a colour I wanted too buy alongside Velvet Teddy, purely because I am all for the Kylie Jenner lip trend. So whilst I eagerly wait for Velvet Teddy to come into stock in my local store any day, I wanted to get Whirl ahead and ready to love and use...except it was out of stock. Luckily, the store assistant (who I always run to for help!) stepped in super quickly and showed me two other colours very similar (Spice and Staunchly Stylish.) I ended up going for a Pro-Longwear pencil in the shade 'Staunchly Stylish', which is similar too Spice, except has more peachy tones.
Overall, I am very happy with the two lip liners, especially their durability and length of wear. Look out in the next couple of weeks for a post on 'How To Liner', as well as an update on if I ever get Velvet Teddy!

Dear Diary 8: A New Love?

*Side Note:

Blogger didn't seem to post any of my scheduled posts this week, so I am posting each one daily until we are caught up! Sorry for confusion, I only just realised!

Happy Monday!
Today is a reflecting post, as I have been in a much happier place recently, and I put it down to doing more with my life. One significant factor being I have taken up dance- ballet and tap to be precise.
Its only adult classes, and I definitely don't expect to be the next Darcey Bussell- but its giving me so much confidence!
And as everything is coming together, reflecting on the past year is helping me start too move on.
This time last year, I was suffering the intended loss of my Granddad, and this blog hadn't even come to mind. By keeping myself busy over the past year I have started to discover a 'new me' (cringe), but also understand that things can go bad, and it is always good to try and make the best of the situation.
Anyway, enough of the bad stuff, lets enjoy the good!
2015 has been a pretty good year so far, and lets keep it that way!

Hated // Loved

Hello!

Todays post is a beauty post dedicated to products I used to hate, and now I love.

During this month there have been four products that have really stuck out for me, and I keep going to every morning

Bodyshop Instablur All-In-One Primer

I loved this primer back in the summer, yet I stopped using it because I thought it really badly broke me out. Since using it I have discovered that it wasn't the product that was breaking me out- thank goodness! Because as a primer it is a very good product and helps my make-up sit all day.

Revlon 24hours Colourstay Foundation

Having discovered this product when a No7 consultant told me their colour match foundation service couldn't match my skin tone, I was eager to give it a go. After a couple of uses I found that it really oxidized on my face- leaving me look orange. Since then I have worked out the only way I can wear this foundation is by wearing lots of translucent powder to try and make me look a little paler before the foundation oxidizes. Apart from that, I really do love this foundation and I would say its a drugstore alternative to MAC Studio Fix (and that's saying something since I love this foundation!)

Rimmel Stay Matte Translucent Powder

Firstly I need to say I never hated this product, I just preferred my Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot powder. I bought the two products at the same time, trying both and preferring the other. But since my Soap and Glory Powder died of death about three weeks ago, I have been using this non-stop and loving it! And at a fraction of the price- it is a real bargain.

Rimmel Brow This Way Gel

There were two reasons why this product never did much for me, the formula and lack of colours. I found that using the gel on its own left my eyebrows feeling really sticky and as there was no colour similar to the brow shadow I was using at that moment (Copperplate from MAC), it was a waste. However having got MAC Mystery for Christmas and using this on my brows everyday since, the gel is rapidly becoming something I can't not include in my brow routine...and as for the formula? I can live with that!

Are there any products you originally hated and now love?

Audition Prep!

Constantly reading sheet music and avoiding chocolate!

I am really sorry to say that todays blogpost almost seems a little pointless, simply due to the fact I am stupidly busy at the moment!
A self confessed over-worked I am constantly making more work for myself, and this month seems to be the worst one for it.
One thing I have found I have been doing lots recently is singing, and my voice is hating me for it! I have also given up chocolate, which my self control is really struggling with, but the benefits before many university auditions/A Level exams are just too good to miss out on.
So once again sorry for the almost pointless blogpost (she says as she finishes reading it), but I felt guilty not uploading anything!
Back to normal Saturday,

Review: Zoeva Rose Golden Luxury Brush Set

mid wash picture!

Another review today!

Before Christmas, I decided to treat myself and finally purchase the ‘Zoeva Rose Golden Luxury Brush Set’ that everyone has been raving about- and yes, I am impressed.

I won’t go through and specifically review every single brush, else we would be here for a while as I literally can’t fault them.

The set of eight brushes come in a nice leather pouch, perfect for travel or as a handbag make-up bag if your brushes live on a dressing table like mine! The eight brushes include:

The brushes included in the set:

106 Powder Brush – perfect with MAC Mineralise Skin finish!
102 Silk Finish Brush – AMAZING for liquid foundation! I originally was going to purchase this brush individually, and may end up doing so in the future.

110 Face Shape Brush – Nice if applying large amounts of concealer, similar to 102 brush.

127 Luxe Sheer Cheek Brush – I don’t tend to wear colour on the cheek, so this is my least used brush, however it fits perfectly on the apples of my cheeks.

142 Concealer Buffer – Even smaller version of the 102/ Real Techniques buffing brush! Perfect for redness around the nose!

227 Soft Definer – Very similar to a MAC 217!
231 Petite Crease Brush – I nice, small size ‘pencil’ brush, perfect for blending under the eye.

317 Wing Liner Brush – I already owned this brush having purchased it individually, can’t fault, it, and personally I think it is as good as a MAC 266.

Having owned these brushes for a few weeks they have already had a nice wash, and I can say they took a fair amount of time to dry, but no different to normal if you are used to washing thicker brushes.

Overall I am VERY impressed with these brushes, and only wish I ordered them sooner!

You can buy the brushes here or here!

Review: Alexa Chung X Nails Inc.

Hello!

I am little late joining the bandwagon for this review- but there is a good reason for it, which I will get too in a minute.

Alexa Chung recently (last year…) released a collection with Nails Inc. known as ‘Alexa Chung for Nails Inc’, where she released a range polishes including decorative top coats, and gorgeous chic colours for your nails.

When it came to ordering, I opted for the range of six, which included two ‘top coats’, a limited edition colour and three regular polishes.

ALEXA STARS - luxe silver and gold stars top coat

ALEXA HEARTS - bright red hearts top coat

ALEXA CASHMERE - soft pink Cashmere effect polish

ALEXA EDIT NIGHT SKY - Alexa's favourite deep dark navy polish

ALEXA WINTER LILAC - Alexa's favourite lilac polish

ALEXA HOLOGRAPHIC - a shimmering top coat to transform your favourite polishes

I am naturally not much of a nail person, polish chips on my nails really easily and acrylics last days, yet a spontaneous decision over Christmas meant that ordering these would make me want to get more into nail polish in 2015.

After testing each colour briefly, then deciding to paint my nails with ‘Winter lilac’ and ‘Holographic’, followed by a clear Rimmel Top coat, I can safely say these nails haven’t chipped (yet) and I am excited to try new combinations!

Have you tried the polishes? What are your thoughts?

A new outlook on blogging?

No peeking! You'll have to wait and see what's written...

You may already think, ‘wow’, she’s blogging more this month than she did last- and, yes, that’s true. This is down to the fact I find blogging so relaxing and easy, that I want to do it more.

Towards the end of 2014 I decided I needed to be more motivated, but also make more me time. I find writing so easy that if I put my mind to it I could write a blogpost or two in the car on the way to school each morning, starting the day off doing something I love.

I also chose to try and motivate myself by saying ‘do three things on a list a day, and you will eventually be on top of all of your work’. So I started the list…and didn’t keep to it- although in my defence it is still the holiday when I am writing this, and I am always much more motivated in term time (let’s see how that works when I am working in the future!)

Overall, I am hopefully aiming to be publishing 3 or 4 blogposts a week, so I hope you enjoy!

Check back every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday!

Christmas via MAC

Couldn't focus camera :(

Today’s post is a little haul/review showing some of the items I got for Christmas from the beloved MAC.

For Christmas I received 6 items, all for the eyes, these included a Glitter, Pigment, two Technakohl Liners and two Eye shadows.

Starting with shadows, I received two colours I have wanted for absolutely ages, meaning both of my palettes are nearly complete. I firstly received Electra, with is a shimmery silver colour. Its colour lasts so much better than Forgery ever will, and I am really happy with the outcome! The other colour I got was Mystery, which is a dark warm-toned brown. I have been using this colour on my brows and I love it! It makes them a lot stronger which I am currently liking!

Next up was the Glitter and Pigment. I opened the 3D Holographic Silver and squealed with excitement, as I am using this glitter for something in the next couple of weeks. I decided to wear it on Christmas day with Electra and it looked great to vamp up a smokey eye! The pigment I received was Cornflower, which is a Blue/Periwinkle colour. I saw this colour in London a couple of months ago and wanted to buy it eventually. Then as new products were released I forgot about it. Two weeks ago I swatched it in my local MAC store and I knew now was the right time to get it, and I was lucky! Unfortunately it’s not available online anymore and I had the last one in my local store, so if you do get the chance to get it- I suggest you do!

The final two products I received are from the new Technakohl collection, I went for the colours Funfare (Shocking pink) and Sourpuss (Sour/Acid Green.) I haven’t had chance to wear the colours on my eyes yet, but the swatches I did on my hand show the colours are very long lasting and true to the packaging.

Overall, I am very happy with my new products to play with! Did you get anything from MAC for Christmas?

Happy 2015!

Hello BlondeandBlank readers!
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and so far a good start to the New Year. I haven’t blogged since the beginning of December and that’s simply because Christmas is always the busiest time of year in A Level season! I didn’t want this post to be all about my ‘resolutions’- perhaps it could be seen more as a reflection.
In 2014 I made the decision to prove myself and stop being told no over things I knew could do, I won’t go into too much detail as this will be a post in the near future, however, I want 2015 to be same, and better.
My resolutions are three simple things;
Be more confident and content
2 years ago my confidence took a major knock and it’s only now that I am starting to truly enjoy performing like I used to.
Continue to work hard and not let things get to me.
I have so much planned for this year that it will either be the making or breaking of me. During December I spent a lot of days coming home from school and crying, because I knew I had so much to do. A new start hopefully means I am not going to get so worked up this year, as I don’t want to push my limits again.
Be myself.
This is the major thing for me. Over the past few years I have become aware of who my true friends are, and now I definitely know who they are. I haven’t had to change my personality around them, and they (hopefully) respect me the same way I respect them!
So too conclude, I hope I can stick to these goals over the next year, and if I do, 2015 might just be the best one yet.
